Appalachia 03:04
I could hear the echoes, I could hear the howls as they passed through Appalachia. From the Smoky's to Katahdin and straight through the heart of Pennsylvania. Here it comes like a freight train. The stone has been carved, the grave has been dug, but don't look away. I said don't look away, it's just a spinning stone around a lonely star. I've never been ready for the winter, but here it comes. I could follow stars or I could trace the tracks, but nothing will lead me to the summers that have past. Have you heard the stories? As mountains they stood rigid and tall, but now all these beaten hills can whisper is not even earth can last. Here it comes like a hurricane. The rain it pours, the wind it howls, but don't be afraid. I said don't be afraid we're just skipping stones across a rising creek. I've never been ready for the thunder, but here it comes. Here it comes picking the devil's brain. The sails are torn, the axle broke, but don't walk away. I said don't walk away, hear the beating drums across the midnight sky. I've never been ready for a journey like this...

Where is the future? I buried my mind. Love just to leave, I followed to please. Bullied by a sovereign voice; bullied by the fear of the choice. Can we live this life, is there a light at the end? Flat lined the weak; lead by deceit. Breathe like you only get one call; breathe like you’re risking it all. Drowning with all that is honest. My world was built on a lick and a promise. Falling like these legs aren’t for standing, no use in trying, but I’ll never hope for defeat. With no stars we lost our way, but we carry on for all. I dirtied my shoes; won just to lose. I know I’m not outlining the bottom; I know I’m not worse off than anyone else.

Travelers 03:45
I look down at the world from a make believe tower. I can tell it’s just getting smaller. I can toss, I can turn until the cows, the sheep and the spiders come home. I count them all until the night sky turns blue. I went back to my favorite place, climbed the tallest tree, reached the highest branch. I guess I’ve grown into this skin, when the limb split, I hit every one coming down. We are all time travelers. My friend he crossed the country when he heard about gold in them hills. I guess he found what he was looking for because he hasn’t been back this way again. We are all travelers...

Gettysburg 02:15
To my surprise, to see you across that great field, marching towards me. Knowing that I never changed your mind, hoping you will survive. Brother, why must I fight you? Brother, my heart is with you. Brother, I know I'll see you again on the next battlefield. One day we'll see eye to eye, marching side by side, together again you and I, my hopes and dreams realized.

Rope Swing 04:09
I read it in the papers today, all about the high water at high noon. They wouldn’t even print his name or maybe I just can’t remember his name. It doesn’t really matter because the creek claimed it yesterday. On the day that he died they chopped down the rope swing. All the neighbors searched day and night. Every last neighbor searched day and night. They never found his body and they say they never will. So a few men in town fetched an axe and they chopped down the tree, the one we all would swing from.

Its all a lie until you hear Luke fall. Its all a lie until you see him fall. Broken pictures I always wished and wanted to save. If I could steal the hand, a sentence I can withstand. Wasted opportunities to see where the horizon lays. Pilot, scour the earth; take the score for all its worth. Rustic fantasies that only quell the ravenous soul. Shady dreams show, an explorer’s sacred oath. Commandeer deaf’s lone ear and profess the adventurous way. Climb the ladder to feel the fall; solve the riddle and start the call.

West 02:47
The spirits are dancing, wits are clashing, the bridges are burning tonight. This nights not forsaken, this moments not mistaken, it's west to the rest of the world. We watch in awe, we're destined to experience it all. It's west to the rest of the world. We thirst, we crave, we chased promises to the grave. It's west to the rest of the world. The stories are changing, truth is waiting, the streets are littered in spite. The town is outraged, some strangers invade. It’s west to the rest of the world.

I put one foot in front of the other and somehow ended up here. Locked eyes with the horizon, like a film strip it changes at a slow-steady pace. And I can’t focus my mind off the endless list of places I’ll never see before I die. We could barely track these hills, can you imagine the world? When I was a young boy, my pilgrim hat was just a red baseball cap. We followed curiosity; we followed footsteps out into the unknown. Where the roads stretch like fingers and reach out to the corners of the earth. From a small town too big straight to what seemed like heaven’s passageway. And somewhere out in all that darkness he set out to fix us a fire. I can still hear that same wild call my name. And after all this time, how the years drift on by, but you kept that same twinkle in your eye and it’s there at the end of the night screaming, “come on baby, let’s keep on dancing.” Let’s keep these fires burning. Let’s keep these songs singing.

Letter 04:49
Dear old friend, it’s been too long and how I’d like to see you again. Today the Susquehanna lays flat; that old bridge has been gone for over a century. The stone column still stands; it holds lady liberty proud and free. In passing, I think of Septembers. You know I can flex my memory just like a muscle. We use to drink beer in basements and shoot pool back on the other side of those mountains. And they chopped down our favorite tree, the one that hung over the creek so peacefully. We carved our youth into the bark, with our initials surrounded by a crooked heart. And just like that it’s gone; I think of all those little things I thought would never change and how they’re stacked upside some stranger’s house; he burns them every now and then to keep the mood just right. Old friend where did you hide; old friend are you even listening. I hope you took the sun by the reigns, and let go when you couldn’t tell which way leads home. Everything’s as simple as it seems; the monkey wrench isn’t even close to the gears. The world isn’t spinning fast enough and that horse track out in space isn’t wide enough, so the days are long and the years are short. Old friend can you tell me what else is new? The sun burns bright and the moon is just a piece of dirt still jealous of the earth. The sun burns bright and the moon is just a piece of dirt still jealous of our earth.

Pennsylvania 13:06
Nothing’s the same, yesterday, but it’s the past that forgets the future. I know a place calling to say if it’s time please leave the door open. Miles of scene that could set any dream, my friend you’re always there, Pennsylvania. Home is not for everyone, home is just a stop for some, but for those who leave it in their tracks remember where you came. There is something always there. If the maps the same how can an entire place change? Look closer the stones still there. I know a name founded one day it spread shards, but fulfilled a hunger. And there’s steel that could save which no man forgave. Pennsylvania doesn’t care.
